Captivate 3 simulations in Breeze Presenter 5.1

I'm in a fix for getting a project out and an apparent glitch between Presenter 5.1 (269) and Captivate 3 is holding things up.
The simulation (assessment simulation) I insert via Breeze > Insert Flash... plays, until it reaches a text input. The cursor doesn't appear, nor does the text box.
The simulations were converted from Captivate 2 and edited, with new sound files, and inserted in the PowerPoint 2003 slides.
Any ideas?

DB,

When you say "the cursor doesn't appear...et al", do you mean that the screen goes blank? Or is it that just the cursor & text box disapppear? Is the rest of the screen still visible? (meaning the recorded screen as captured in Captivate).

That *almost* sounds like a problem with a Full Motion Recording, but I'd be interested to know a bit more about what, and how, you recorded that portion of your Captivate movie.

Do you have a URL that I might be able to preview this scenario?

Thanks for your reply.
Everything on the screen appears normal, except that there is no cursor blinking at the text input box.
Simulation was recorded in training mode. In some cases I'm not sure about the original capture, as some were converted from CP2. However, the problem recurred regardless of whether the simulation was converted from one version to another (we have used CP 1, 2 and 3 in the last two years).
Good news, though! I kept looking and found a technote at Adobe indicating the need to publish to Flash for Flash Player 8. Our standard had been 7. Publishing in 8 eliminated the issue.

Ah! Now that makes sense!

Recording in training mode wouldn't have been the issue anyway. There is *one* thing to keep in mind here however: because the content was published for Flash Player version 8, just be sure that you make it clear to your viewers that 8 would be required to play that content.

We're hoping that won't be an issue because previously we have told them that 7 would work (and it does for most simulations, but not the ones with user text input. Thanks for having this forum! db

Hello,

First of all, this forum has been really helpful in educating me about some the features and usage of Presenter. I have developed a few e-learning modules using Captivate but now have been asked to use Presenter for some other projects.

The Issue
I have some trouble keeping the screen from proceeding to the next while a flash file of captivate is playing in presenter. What I am trying to do is embed some clips of developed tutorials in a "chapterized" presenter file. Any suggestions on how to correct the problem?

Andres,

Sounds to me like you may not have enabled the "Advance by User" command for the slide that displays the Captivate movie. You'll have to update the slide property of any screen that you don't want to automatically advance; but once you do, that should resolve the problem.

Please let us know whether that resolves the issue or not!
